Thanks to those of you that came out for Thursday nights opening PTA meeting. I know many families had sports, my own included. Hopefully, you can make it to our October 19th Grandparents Night event. I’m looking forward to a Wild West theme!
We had a great time with your kids last week. Mrs. Ambrose and I got to meet with all of the grade levels to talk about our Journey Compass Values, school-wide expectations, and how we can help communities impacted by the recent hurricanes. A flyer went home this past week that gives suggestions for donations that we will be sending to a community in need. Some folks asked about sending money. We’ve decided we can accommodate this through the Scholastic Possible Fund. Scholastic works with different groups (including one related to disasters) that will turn monetary donations into books for damaged schools. We appreciate any support you can provide.
While Mrs. Ambrose and I were meeting with your students the grade level teams were in Journey Project planning mode. If you don’t know what a Journey Project is, I urge you to visit our website and watch one of last years project videos. I know they’ve got some great things planned for your kids this year. Be on the lookout for more information from each grade level.
We hope work is underway for the Roadrunner Warrior Fundraiser. We’ve got all of the kids sized for our t-shirt order. Corporate sponsorship forms are due in by September 20th. The packets are due by September 25th. At the assembly we let the kids know that the class with the highest participation level will get some extra recess and nature trail time and they were super excited!
This week don’t forget about PICTURE DAY on Wednesday, September 20th. You can pay in advance through the envelope that came home or by going to mylifetouch.com and using the picture day ID: RV157038Q0. Online takes credit card, offers coupons, and doesn’t require you to send anything to school. This is a school fundraiser and Lifetouch gives us a portion of the proceeds back to us.
Lastly – remember that there is NO SCHOOL on Friday, September 22nd.
