What a great concert! The second, third, fourth, and fifth grade students put on a stupendous show on Friday evening. It was a packed house, and I appreciate those of you that had to stand or sit in the far back. Mrs. Blevins is such a talented musician and teacher. The songs were perfect for each grade level and I just love how the show ended with everyone singing and an explosion of snow. My thanks to the Encore team for helping with final preparation all week long, to all of teachers for being so supportive, to the folks that came early to setup the stage and to all families for supporting us at the end of the week with a Friday concert.
The calendar is a short on with week. Students and teachers are only here on Monday and Tuesday. The Verlander’s will be visiting Monday morning to read to our students and kick off sales of their new local book. We’ll have our traditional “Winter Sing-a-long” on Tuesday morning. And most holiday parties will take place Tuesday afternoon. Teacher newsletters and emails from room parents should have given the details of the time and date for each class.
I’ve been asked to share some Goochland County events you may be interested in. Steve Geyer recently sent out information about Conundrum Day. The free event will take place on Saturday, January 20th, from 9:00-11:30AM at Goochland Middle School. Flyers went home last week. Teams will be building products to withstand the elements inside on-site wind tunnels. I plan to be there to help out! One other event – Goochland High School Seniors are raising money for All Night Graduation through a first through ninth grade softball camp being held on Saturday, January 6th. I’ve attached the flyer they sent me and recommend emailing firstname.lastname@example.org for more information. I’d also recommend getting registered by the end of this week with the holiday coming.
Remember it’s just Monday and Tuesday of school this week. We’ll then see everyone back on Tuesday, January 2nd, 2018.
I hope you all have a wonderful holiday break!
