There’ll be no school tomorrow, no school tomorrow, no school tomorrow – in observance of the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday. Thank you, Mrs. Blevins for getting that stuck in our heads, although now the latest round of it is my fault! Families, take some time to reflect with your kids on our compass values of Respect, Relationships, and Acceptance and how they relate to the work of Martin Luther King. I also received a timely article about the importance of reading that I’m attaching to this message. Hopefully, there are some books in the home that can keep your kiddos academically engaged for a little bit. You should read chapter 8 of The Littles on Monday night to keep up with Goochland Reads.
It has certainly been an interesting ride with the weather. Hopefully, you’ve got things setup correctly in school messenger to get the text message, email and voice notifications from Superintendent Raley. Send in a note or email if you’d like any more numbers or emails added to the receiving list.
High School senior Jack Paone is directing the middle school musical named Honk! Jr. It’s the story of the Ugly Duckling and a great play for elementary students. The show will be on January 18th and 19th at 7 pm on the GHS stage. Tickets are $5 for students and $10 for adults.
5th Grade Families should mark their calendars for Thursday, February 1st. It is the GMS Curriculum Fair with a great opportunity to hear from that administrative team and walk around the building you’ll be in next year. I can’t believe I’ll be there as a parent with my eldest!
And lastly, be on the lookout for the PTA Enrichment Program classes. We’ll have our traditional Tuesday choices running from February 13th through March 6th.
