I can’t believe it – the school year is here! It was so great to see our returning and new Roadrunners on Thursday. I know some of you were unable to come, but no worries, we’ll have plenty of adults to get students pointed in the right direction.
Tomorrow, Monday – we will be meeting with each grade level in the library. We’ll talk Journey School, introduce staff members, and share our expectations about rules around the school. We are also starting a new program called Zones of Regulation. The Zones framework provides strategies to teach students to become more aware of and independent in controlling their emotions and impulses, manage their sensory needs, and improve their ability to problem solve conflicts. It’s lessons fit perfect with our Journey Compass Values of Acceptance, Respect, and Relationships. You’ll hear more about it as the year goes on.
Parents – sorry for all of the homework you picked up Thursday and that you will continue to get this week. Teachers have their own forms that help get important information. The Acceptable Use Policy is critical for all students to get iPads in hand next week. So lets try to get everything in as soon as possible please! Please get signed into Powerschool as soon as possible as we’ve prompted all families to update important things like emergency contacts and your own information. Call the school if you need Powerschool enrollment instructions.
Please make sure to take care of your school fees as soon as possible. They can be found at this link. I’d suggest setting up an online account so you can quickly pay for future items like field trips. You are welcome to send check or cash if needed. Here is the link to sign up for the PTA. And here is the link to get signed up for our meal pay program. This is offered to you with no convenience fee. So rack up your credit card point rewards and also receive notifications when lunch balances are low!
