Happy long weekend! I’ll start with that reminder. There is no school tomorrow, Monday, September 3rd. And let’s keep going with the calendar this week. A Girl Scout representative is visiting during lunch on Wednesday. They’ve got a recruitment event at the school that evening at 6pm. Summer reading forms are due Friday, September 7th. In order to gain free tickets to Field Day of the Past you must turn in a list signed by a parent/guardian, which include at least 10 book titles that were read during the summer. Make sure you put student name, teacher name, and grade level. That’s it on calendar.
Next up – some PTA items:
First, several papers came home from the PTA this week. It had a welcome letter, PTA Board information, a calendar and other information. They also sent home a registration form in case you prefer to join by paper versus online. Our goal is for 100% of our families to join the PTA! We are sitting at 50% of our families. We’ve got a few competitions going to help the excitement along. The first class to reach 100% earns a pizza party. Right now we’re neck and neck with several classrooms! Mrs. Kauffman’s 5th grade class in the lead, followed by Mrs. Harris 1st grade class and Mrs. Wilson’s 2nd grade class. We’ve also had a daily drawing for free dessert. Any family that has joined has their student’s tickets in a bucket. This sweet treat has brought a lot of excitement!
Also related to the PTA is one of our Committees that needs assistance – Hospitality. This group helps to take care of our teachers by providing dinner when teachers stay through the day for an evening PTA meeting. Our next PTA event is Thursday, September 13th. Please visit our Sign Up Genius Link if you are able to help provide specific food items for our staff.
And to give you a little more information about September 13th – I hope you have it marked on your calendar. After a brief opening PTA meeting in the cafeteria, we send all of our families out to the classrooms. Teachers will have student work on display. They will also share specific information about how to make this school year a success. I’ll be continuing to push “Sign In and Sign Up!” We’ve got iPads in all hands now and that means we have student things to share to your computer or smartphone. So we’ve got to get you signed into the right apps and signed up for notifications!
Did you see Dr. Raley’s email about a visit to our school on Friday, August 31st? He used a cool 360 degree camera. Click on this link to watch a short video. As you watch click on the screen and look around the entire room. Here is the link again to the video on Zones of Regulation. And then once again are the links for school fees, the sign up for the PTA and the meal pay program. And here’s how to update School Messenger with your contact information.
