What a week for Goochland and Randolph students! If you didn’t get a chance to read Dr. Raley’s comments about Goochland hosting educators from several states I would recommend checking it out. Our division is a leader in engagement and student-centered learning. So much of this has to do with our purposeful focus on relationships. Just take a look at our Twitter feed in the last few days and you’ll see evidence of student engagement and staff dedication. Great job to the 4th grade team for presenting the ongoing Journey Project work. Thanks for all of you that helped with the Bookfair, the PTA #GRAND event, and Roadrunner Warrior on Friday. Krissy Watson, you were a tireless leader on the Warrior event. Sue Vaughan, thanks for making the Bookfair such a success. Special thanks also to Nikki Harris, Frank Eldridge, Christin East, and Dr. Jeremy Raley for braving the dunk tank in the chilly weather!
This week is busy with trips and visitors. On Monday the PTA sponsored Young Scientist in school field trips visits Fourth Grade. On Tuesday the GHS band will be performing an assembly for some of our upper grade levels. Fourth grade is visited by the Leave No Trace organization. Wednesday is picture make up day. Fourth Grade is headed to Jamestown. After school Orff Club will meet. On Friday First Grade goes to the Ashland Berry Farm, Fourth and Fifth Grade go to the Symphony, and Report Cards come home.
Report cards are purposefully timed for just before Parent Teacher Conferences, which will be held on Monday, October 29th. Call the school and talk to Mrs. Russell to schedule your 15 minute time slot with your child’s teacher between 12 and 7pm. A reminder that there is no school for students on Monday, October 29th nor on Tuesday, October 30th.
On Wednesday, October 31st we will celebrate book character day. Students are encouraged to dress up like a favorite book character. Characters and costumes should be appropriate for children of all ages. Several classes may also be having fall parties on that day. You should receive notice of this from the teacher or from the homeroom parent.
