I’ve got a few announcements that are better to come out at the start of the weekend versus the end. Sorry to throw off the normal Sunday phone message!
First, I wanted you to know that after lunch today, water was unavailable at our school. We were able to identify the issue and restore service, and we hope that repairs over the weekend will provide a permanent fix.
Next, I’ve got a few donation announcements that the weekend may help you prepare for. The first grade is collecting lightly used clothing, blankets, toys, and books as part of their Goochland Cares Journey Project. As you may be up in the attic for holiday decorating this weekend, consider sending some items throughout next week with Friday as the deadline. We’ll collect the items down by the gym. Box tops are also due this next Friday. Envelopes will come home on Monday. Find that baggie with the cutout coupons and consider using the Box Top app as well for extra points. And lastly, a fifth-grade team of boys is starting to collect plastic items that normal recycling centers do not take. It is the plastic grocery bags and the plastic wrap that goes around toilet paper, water bottles, and clean food items. This will be done through April. Their suggestion is to fill the grocery bags with these items throughout the week and send them in those bags. More information will come home about this as well as reminder magnets.
I believe next week we do have Recycling Club on Tuesday and Orff and Garden Club on Wednesday. But please do always pay attention to messages from those club sponsors as things sometimes change.
