Shiver me timbers, Roadrunners! What a temperature change we are seeing today! I hope power holds and that all of you can curl up with a good book on Monday. A reminder, there is no school tomorrow, Monday, January 21st in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr.
And now for the announcements:
Go back and check Friday backpacks. You should find signups for the PTA February after-school programs. Those are first come first serve with payment due at the time of signing up. In order to make the class rosters we need all flyers and payment back by the end of this week. Fourth and fifth grade families will also see a letter explaining a state survey that will be completed in a few weeks. As the letters states, the survey will be to help assess our progress in establishing a positive school climate that helps promote student learning. If you wish to opt out please send a note through our teacher or call the school. Third grade put on an amazing show last Thursday night when they shared their Journey Project Video. We encourage you to take a look. A special thanks to Ms. Emily Hanna for some jump roping fun!
Looking at the calendar this week:
Again, no school on Monday. You still need to read Nim’s Island Chapter 9 on Monday night! Recycling club is Tuesday afternoon. Orff is Wednesday afternoon. Talent show auditions are Thursday afternoon. Applications were due this past Friday and Mrs. Blevins has email families with what is required. Many owe her musical tracks by Thursday. Goochland Middle School would like to invite Roadrunner families to see their production of Peter Pan Jr.! The show is on Thursday and Friday night at 7pm. Tickets can be purchased at the door or online at http://drama.goochlandschools.org! Doors will open at 6:30 and concessions and merchandise will be sold.
The middle school is also sending out a flyer for our 5th graders about the GMS Curriculum Faire on Tuesday, February 5th. Click here to see the flyer with more information. The event goes from 6-8pm with information sessions and the opportunity to walk around to classrooms.
I hope everyone stays warm! Don’t forget to have your kid find their lost jacket down by the gym. We have over 60 unclaimed coats!
