What did you think of the ending of our Goochland Reads Book Nim’s Island? I am a happy ending fan. Anyone have craving for coconut throughout the book? Reading Nim’s Island was the perfect kickoff for the Go Nuts for Reading Flying Squirrels Program. Nutsy visited the school on Wednesday to hand out bookmarks to all of the students. By reading and marking off eight books by Wednesday, March 20th you can earn a free ticket to the April 18th Flying Squirrels Game. So put that bookmark on the fridge (unless your teacher kept hold of them) and get the eight books marked off. After we collect the bookmarks we will send you the ticket voucher and a form that let’s the family buy additional tickets for $9. I know my whole family plans on going. That is one of the games with fireworks at the end!
I’m happy to hear that our breakfast numbers have increased both in the cafeteria and at the end of the 4th grade hallway! I know many families eat at home. But for those rushed mornings, or for families that want to take advantage of their free and reduced program benefits, it’s a great way to make sure our Roadrunner bellies are full!
This week we have Variety Show rehearsal on Monday and Tuesday. That’s getting ready for the Thursday, February 21st performance. I believe there is Recycling Club on Tuesday and Garden Club on Wednesday. But please always pay attention to emails from those teacher leaders. On Thursday there is a Reading Olympics Single Shard event. And then on Friday the SCA has an after school meeting.
For those of you watching the Super Bowl – I hope your team wins! Or if you are like me – I hope there are some funny commercials!
