Happy School Year!
We are ready for you tomorrow! Doors open at 8am and we’d love everyone in the building by 8:20am. Hopefully, you have gotten your updated bus information. Preschool and Kindergarten students should have received letters in the mail. Everyone else was instructed to log in to Powerschool and click on “School Bulletin” on the left of the screen to see bus numbers and route information. You should also log into Powerschool to fill out annual permission agreements and to update medical and other important information. Teachers asked for families to sign the Acceptable Use agreement (English – Spanish) on Thursday if you visited. Students cannot use iPads until this document is signed. 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade families must also pay a $20 iPad insurance fee on our website this week. If you weren’t at Back to School Night Thursday check your child’s folder for the Acceptable Use Document and many other important pieces of information. Free and Reduced meal forms must be filled out on an annual basis. Those should have been in all the paperwork. These are now also offered online! I know you all received a lot of paperwork, and more may be coming home. But all of it is essential to gear up for the new year, so thank you for your attention to it all! One last thing to bookmark – our country Elementary Handbook. You can find it at our website when you hover over the Parent section.
Tomorrow, Monday – we will be meeting with each grade level in the library. We’ll talk Journey School, introduce staff members, and share our expectations about rules around the school as well as on the bus. Lower grades will get a refresher on Zones of Regulation. Upper grades will be talking about our iPad device expectations as they will be handed out on Monday, August 26th.
Please make sure to take care of your school fees as soon as possible. They can be found at this link. I’d suggest setting up an online account so you can quickly pay for future items like field trips. You are welcome to send check or cash if needed. Here is the link to sign up for the PTA. And here is the link to get signed up for our meal pay program. This is offered to you with no convenience fee. So rack up your credit card point rewards and also receive notifications when lunch balances are low!
One announcement for 4th and 5th grade students. The robotics team applications are due this Friday, August 23rd. I believe the date on the application was incorrect. Forms will be coming home through folders on Monday. The first meeting will be on Tuesday, August 27th. So it is important that you get these applications in as soon as possible as late entries would come after the teams are already formed!
And lastly, an announcement for any kids interested in cub scouts. Pack 710 will be holding an information night on Thursday, August 22nd at 6:30pm. This is open to all grade levels and both boys and girls. This is different than Girl Scouts. They have not yet contacted the school for a recruitment night.
I love all the summer pictures that have come to my email. They’ll be up on the big screen in the cafeteria and in the office this week. See you tomorrow!
