Monday, October 7th will be a Day 3.
I’ve got several announcements that have a lot of online references. So please remember you can always get to all of this information at our website – res.goochlandschools.org.
Let’s start with the calendar:
This whole week is Farm to School week. School meals will feature fresh items that are supplied locally! Kindergarten will kick off their Journey Project on Monday. They are being visited by author and illustrator Lulu Delacre. Tuesday night is the monthly School Board meeting. Principals from all five schools will be presenting our Annual School Improvement Plans. You can visit the county website after the meeting to see plans presented in the minutes. Our younger grades will enjoy a PTA sponsor Virginia Repertory Theater production of Hansel and Gretel on Wednesday afternoon. On Thursday 2nd grade will host the Jamestown Outreach program. That evening from 4-9pm we encourage you to visit Bogey’s Sport Park for some mini-golf. Our Randolph PTA will get a percentage of sales so make sure you mention where you are from!
And now a plethora of information!

Last week we feature information about Richmond Virginia Orthodontics. This week’s featured platinum corporate sponsor for ROADRUNNER WARRIOR DASH is TOWNSEND COMPANY AND SONS! The Townsend family has been local to Goochland for over 70 years. The Townsend family has had a member of their family attending Randolph Elementary and the rest of the Goochland schools for the last 50 years! Townsend Company has been in Goochland County for 41 years. When Robert Townsend Sr. started the business he began hauling milk to and from the local dairy farms. In the 80s Townsend Company became the 1st pool water supplier in the Richmond area. They service the Goochland area as well as surrounding Richmond, Henrico, Hanover, and Chesterfield areas. We have been known to go wherever there is a water need! In 2008 the milk hauling came to an end and Townsend Company went mainstream pool water. However, the company isn’t limited to just pool water these days! Now we fill wells, supply water at the Richmond Raceway for races and other events, and even supply a local strip mall with water for operation to its restaurants and shops. Townsend Company and Sons even came to aid in the well crisis here at Randolph not so long ago! In January of 2019 Robert Townsend Jr. took over the family business along with his sons and transformed the company to Townsend Company and Sons. We are looking forward to continuing our great relationship with our Goochland friends and neighbors for many more years. Townsend Company and Sons can assist you with all of your bulk water needs! We couldn’t be happier to give back to our very own Randolph Elementary which has been there for us for so long!
The RES Bookfair is just around the corner and syncs up with its final sales day during the Roadrunner Warrior Event on October 18th. My apologies, last week I accidentally said the Warrior event was on October 11th. Here is an informational link that will connect you with the product flyer, volunteer signup sheet, and details about the student wallet digital payment option. Sue Vaughan would love you to visit each of these links, especially the volunteer one! Next week I’ll share the details about daily spirt wear and special events that happen starting on Friday, October 11th.
Our Superintendent wanted to make sure you know about a few opportunities to provide input for Goochland and Goochland Schools. One online article is about strategic plan public input sessions. You are welcome to go to any of them, but we will host one at Randolph on Wednesday, November 6th. Another opportunity is coming this Saturday, October 12th at 10am at the Goochland Recreation Center. It’s called Community Conversations and will be centering discussion around strengthening inclusive, caring, and safe learning environments.
