Monday is a Day 4 for Encore.
It’s a short week for the Thanksgiving holiday. Kids are off Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. I know a few families made a real long break of things. We hope everyone is safe in their travels and gets to spend some extra time with loved ones! Students, I encourage you to take a moment to read to someone visiting, tell them about your Journey Project, or tell them your favorite thing about Randolph!
Calendar wise, 2nd grade has their big Journey event on Monday morning. Around the same time, Mrs. Alvis and Mrs. Austin’s Kindergarten classes will have their Thanksgiving play in the cafeteria. That afternoon 4th-grade students will all receive the book Wonder by R. J. Palacio thanks to an annual donation by the Goochland Rotary Club. On Tuesday morning Mrs. Tysinger’s Kindergarten class will have their Thanksgiving in their room at 9 am. Mrs. Neiditch will have hers in her room at 9:30 am. We’ll have a normal dismissal time on Tuesday, then we won’t see you until Monday, December 2nd.
Congratulations are in order for all three of our Lego Robotics teams that competed in Norfolk on Saturday. Mrs. Sims’ Big Apple team won first place Core Values. Well done to James Skyes, Jonathan Emmett, Todd Jones, Christian Cutzal, Kara Sweitzer, Karly Sweitzer, and Alex Proffitt. Mrs. Schmeichel’s Core Values Coders won First Place Project and are going states because their overall scores were SO HIGH! Congratulations to Noah Carvalho, Peter Anderson, Krystabelle Ruff, Hadassah Da Silva, Johnny Diaz, Emiliano Palacios-Marentes, Alyssa Alley, and Luke Boyle. And Sherrill Kauffman and Ann DeArras’ Roof Top Rollers were the Grand Champions and are also going to states. We are proud of Aurora Potter, Lilly Mauer, Alex Darr, Garrett Watson, Gavin Watson, Christopher William, James Beam, and RJ Wallmeyer. Many thanks to our coaches Ann DeArras, Sean Dearras, Courtney Sims, Johanna Schmeichel, and Sherrill Kauffman. A big thank you to all of our parents and families that supported the team during practices and during yesterday’s event. Thank you in advance for all the support needed for state preparation and the competition. And lastly, thank you to TIMMONS GROUP for being a corporate sponsor of the team alongside our PTA and Goochland County Public Schools. Registration, equipment, and now hotel rooms for states are not cheap!
