This week Encore is combined music for grades 3-5 and a fun grade level mixed activity for all the others.
Last Sunday we received the state Lego results after I had recorded the school messenger. So I did want to share that the Roof Top Rollers won the Rising Stars Award. Although their scores did not give them a place on the overall podium, they were recognized for their outstanding efforts by multiple judges. This team included Aurora Potter, Lilly Mauer, Alex Darr, Garrett Watson, Gavin Watson, Christopher William, James Beam, and RJ Wallmeyer. Thank you to our coaches, our families, and Goochland Schools for making this possible.
As snow becomes a possibility in the forecast I would suggest making sure your contact information is up to date. For those of you with a Powerschool account you can update your email, phone and text message preferences by following the directions under the “Family Connect, School Messenger” tab on our website. For families with younger students you can call the school to check your information, or call and ask for a Powerschool Registration letter to set you up for the future. I’ve found the fastest delay or closing notification comes via text message and the county Twitter feed. But you must have the text message feature turned on in School Messenger. The county inclement weather weblink is also kept up to date.
Looking at the calendar this week:
Monday the 5th grade has a field trip to Park 365. Tuesday the younger Garden Club meets after school. Wednesday everyone will attend the winter concert dress rehearsal in the afternoon. Thursday night we have our big 3-5 concert at the high school. Arrival is 6pm. On Friday we dismiss at 1pm. Please count on buses being anywhere from 2 hours to 2 hours and 20 minutes earlier than your typical time. Students will then be off until Monday, January 6th.
I’m linking two flyers to this message. One is an order form for Brunswick Stew! This is a new PTA fundraiser. Mrs. Upton is leading the charge with a secret sauce that will make for a yummy meal! She’s fed the staff a few times and we are always raving. The PTA will have samples at the upcoming winter concert. We’ll have 50 first come first serve quarts at the performance. The others will be coming home on January 24th. Orders are due by December 19th. Here is the online link – it costs $11 to cover the credit care fee. Or print the form and send with a check to pay $10.
