I thought I’d reach out briefly in light of the Governor’s announcement yesterday. It is hard to believe that we will not be able to resume normal schooling for the rest of the school year. A lot of questions have been coming my way and for now I’m not ready to answer. Central Office leadership continues to receive direction from state resources. Tomorrow morning (Wednesday) principals will video call in to learn about next steps and to pass on the questions from staff and families. Soon thereafter I imagine that we will have direction on educational resources and expectations. I have a feeling you will hear from Dr. Geyer, Dr. Raley, and myself over the next month as we sort out not only this school year, but how things may change for the next.
I can tell you one thing for certain. Expect more read alouds from me! I figured that is the best way for me to emulate my classroom visits that I miss so much. And so, here is your latest – Skippyjon Jones by Judy Schachner, with special permission for a limited posting by Penguin Books. Fair warning on your data, it is half a gig large.
I thought too I’d also take the time to recognize birthdays from time to time as we won’t have morning announcements. So catching March 16th through March 28th – happy birthday to preschooler CJ, Kindergartner Caleb, 1st graders Cooper, Emily, & Olivia, 2nd graders Audrey & Maddie, 3rd grader Jayden, 4th graders Bella, Channing & Zach, and 5th graders Grady & Regan! I’ll catch another crew on my Sunday message.
We will be in touch soon with next steps. Keep reading with your kids!
