Parks and Rec just dropped off their summer Program Guide – we’ll get that out this week. The YMCA has opened their summer camp registration online. And we just opened registration to STEM Camp – held June 19-23. Read about it online and look for the registration brochures to come home soon.
Many of our 4th graders will be taking the National Assessment of Education Progress. On January 17th, a letter went home on with students who were randomly selected to participate in the assessment on February 23rd. This PDF file describes more about the assessment. And they offer this video:
A few link reminders. The county is doing it’s annual school climate survey. Your input is important. Please take the time to visit the online survey at the top of our website or at the link provided in email. I’m also happy to set you up with a computer in the school if your internet access is limited.
We’ve also got the Conundrum Day signup posted on our website. The event is on Saturday, February 4th from 9 to 11:30am and is FREE as long as you sign up by the end of January. This event allows students to practice problem-solving skills and apply ingenuity in fun, hands-on challenges. The theme goes along with our Goochland Reads book, The Chocolate Touch.
Speaking of The Chocolate Touch, we hope you have been keeping up with the reading. On Monday night you should reach Chapter 9 so that you are ready for the morning trivia question.
Two bigger dates I wanted to make sure you have on your family calendar: February 16th and March 3rd. Randolph’s Fine Arts Night and Variety Show will be on February 16th. We’ll have art on display at 6pm with the show starting at 6:30pm. Ms. Bean sent home information about tryouts last week. And please make sure you have shifted Spaghetti Dinner from March 10th to March 3rd. This is a change. Room parents will be in touch about how to support baskets for the auction.
