Administrative Professionals Week - This week is Administrative Professionals Week. Please join us in thanking Ms. Ford (front office secretary), Ms. Foster (registrar), Ms. Hendricks (financial secretary), and Mr. Harris-Muhammed (ISS coordinator/front office help) for all they do for us at GHS.
Congratulations to Mr. Danny Cupp (School Security) - dcupp@glnd.k12.va.us and Mr. Ryan Maloney (Science Department) rmaloney@glnd.k12.va.us for being awarded our April Faculty Bulldog BARKS award. We received over 40 staff member nominations from our faculty, students, and parents. Thank you to all who nominated one of our staff members. All nominations will be shared with those individual staff members!
Class of 2025 College Acceptances - Attention seniors! We would love to acknowledge your college acceptances as you have gotten in. Please fill out this form. Landon Conrad is a senior who was nominated for showing kindness. Landon spends his extra time in Fire and Rescue, and his favorite class is weight training. When asked for a fun fact, Landon responded that he "just likes to have fun," and his friend standing nearby said, "Ain't that the truth." Keep on having fun, Landon!
Charlie Darr is also a kind senior who participates in Fire and Rescue! His favorite class is Unified PE, and he plays football for GHS. Charlie plans to attend Hampden-Sydney College in the fall for either Business and Economics or Political Science. Good luck and great job, Charlie!
Junkyard Dogs Robotics Competes in World Championships! - The Goochland Junkyard Dogs Robotics team competed this weekend in the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) World Championships in Houston, Texas. They are flying back to VA at this very moment! Their robot, “Guppy”, competed at “Worlds” among 600 teams from all over the planet! Way to go, Junkyard Dogs!!!
Straight A Student Celebration for Marking Period 3 - 118 students earned straight A’s for Marking Period 3 and were celebrated with an ice cream social. Congrats to these students for their hard work!

Spring Sense of Belonging Survey NEW DATES - Linked here, please find a preview copy of the 6th - 12th grade GCPS Sense of Belonging and Inclusion Survey that will be administered at GHS through English classes on April 22nd and 23rd. The purpose of the survey is to provide input on how GHS is doing towards meeting our annual school climate goals so that we can create an even better learning environment for all of our students. Any parent wishing to opt their child out of taking this survey may do so by emailing our Survey Coordinator, Ms. Richards (crichards@glnd.k12.va.us).
Marking Period 4 Interim - The marking period 4 interim is Friday, April 25th. Please take a moment to review your student's grades. If you have any specific questions, please contact their teachers.
Dual Enrollment Course Fee Waiver - GCPS is dedicated to making dual enrollment college courses accessible to any students who can benefit from them. Again this year, we are thrilled to partner with the Goochland Community Action Program (GCAP) to offer financial assistance for course fees to any family who financially qualifies and whose child will be taking a Reynolds dual enrollment class this summer or beginning in Fall 2025. Please find the application for Dual Enrollment Assistance linked here. Eligibility guidelines and directions for completing and returning the form are included. All forms should be submitted no later than Friday, April 25th. Adherence to this deadline is important, as grant funds through GCAP are limited. SHREK THE MUSICAL - This year's spring musical will be SHREK THE MUSICAL. The performance dates/times are the following:

Tickets for GCPS employees are free! Please stop by the ticket booth before the performance to get a free ticket. You will be asked to show your GCPS-issued ID. If you want to bring friends and family, ticket prices are $10 for students and $15 for adults. Click here to purchase your tickets online. You can also buy tickets at the ticket booth with cash or check the day of the performance.
Prom 2025: Once Upon a Time - The Junior Class of Goochland High School is proud to announce the prom of 2025! Our theme is “Once Upon a Time,” featuring fairytale vibes and a variety of stories you know and love. Prom will be held on Saturday, May 10th, from 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm at the Adams International School. Come out in your glass slippers for a fairytale night to remember! Tickets must be purchased online via GoFan - your student ID is your access code. Ticket prices this year will be $15 for Seniors, $30 for Juniors, and $40 for non-GHS or underclassmen guests. All non-GHS guests must have a permission form on file by May 1st to attend. Forms can be printed or picked up in the front office. NHS Dodgeball Tournament - 🚨 Attention Goochland High School Students! 🚨 Get Ready for the First Ever GHS Student Dodgeball Tournament! 🏐🤾♂️ Form your teams, bring your best throws, and get ready for some serious fun! GHS is hosting its first-ever Student Dodgeball Tournament during Bulldog Blocks on April 29th, April 30th, and May 2nd. 🗓️

Team Requirements: At least one female per team
Registration Fee: $30 per team
All Proceeds: Support the NHS Service Fund to help beautify our community! 🌱✨

PTSA Update - Teacher Appreciation Week is extremely meaningful to our teachers and staff. GHS PTSA is working hard to recognize the hard work and dedication of our GHS teachers and staff during Teacher Appreciation Week from April 28th - May 2nd. Plans include: snack baskets for each teacher pod, including GTech/cafeteria/custodians, a game truck with bowling and other games, and an end-of-week lunch. Thank you in advance for your support!

Spring Testing Calendar - Please refer to the GHS Spring 2025 Testing Calendar for end-of-the-year testing information and upcoming events. This year, we plan to hold two asynchronous days (May 12th and 19th) to accommodate our staffing needs during SOL testing. Only students who must take an SOL will report on those dates. All other students will work on previously assigned work from home. No one will be required to log into a virtual class on those days. Additionally, all students must take their final exams during the specified testing window. Anyone unable to attend school during the exam window must have a parent contact their administrator. SCA and Class Applications - Students, are you interested in being a leader next year and representing your class and school? If so, please consider applying for Student Council Advisory. Positions include President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer for each grade and the entire student body (rising 11th & 12th graders). Responsibilities include attending monthly meetings and helping plan fun events for the student body, such as Homecoming and Spirit Weeks. Applications will be available April 28th - May 5th and are due by Tuesday, May 6th, to be eligible to run. Students who have submitted their application will be notified of their eligibility to run by Friday, May 9th, and can campaign from May 12th - 16th. All students will vote during Bulldog Block on Tuesday, May 20th. The winners will be announced on Wednesday, May 21st, and will meet with Mrs. Tate on Tuesday, May 27. GCPS Wellness Night - GCPS is hosting the Stronger Together Fun Run for our Goochland Community on Wednesday, May 14th from 5:00 - 7:00 pm (Gates open at 5:00 PM, Fun Run begins at 5:30 PM) at the GHS stadium. The purpose of the event is to promote health and wellness among students, families, and staff. We'll have food trucks, games, bouncy houses, and door prizes. We'll also have various community organizations there to help connect families with resources. Participants will also be able to participate in a "fun run" with colored chalk. Come out and join the GCPS mental health team, participate in games, and enjoy a free night of family fun! This event will be fun for all ages. Miss Goochland Pageant 2025 - The annual Miss Goochland Pageant will be held on Friday, May 16th at 6:00 pm in the GHS Auditorium. Anyone interested in participating in the pageant should fill out the registration form found HERE. Registration and entry fees are due by Thursday, May 15th, at rehearsal. Fees can be paid by cash or checks made out to Goochland High School.
GHS Cheerleading Fall 2025 Sideline Tryouts - Cheerleading tryouts for the fall sideline season will be Tuesday, May 27th - Thursday, May 29th. Rising 8th - 12th graders are eligible to try out. We will meet in the GHS Cafeteria each day when the bell rings, and you should be dressed and ready by 3:50 pm to start. GCPS Credit Accrual Summer School- This summer, we are offering the following virtual courses toward credit accrual: Health/PE 9, Health/PE 10 (this class does not include Driver’s Ed), Economics and Personal Finance, English 12, and Government. All courses will be delivered online using Apex, a self-paced online learning platform, and facilitated by a certified teacher.
Dates: June 10th - August 1st (virtual)
Tuition: Current GCPS Students $280/course, in-county residents $280/course, out-of-county $499/course
GCPS Driver’s Ed (Classroom Component)- This 30-hour course is taught in person by a certified GCPS teacher and will satisfy the classroom component required for a student to obtain a driver’s license. This course does not include Behind the Wheel. Transportation to and from this program will not be provided.
Dates: June 9th - June 13th
Time: 9:00 AM- 3:00 PM
Location: Goochland High School
Fee: $100
Virtual Virginia Summer School Classes- Goochland County Public Schools will be utilizing Virtual Virginia this summer to provide credit accrual course options for high school students that are not offered through the summer credit accrual program at GCPS. Virtual Virginia summer school is for credit accrual only, not recovery of failed classes. Students should be motivated and task-driven and should plan to spend approximately 4-5 hours per day on a course. Students may take a maximum of 2 courses (8-10 hours per day for two courses). Please contact your child's school counselor at GHS for more information about these summer courses.

PTSA Updates - All GHS parents and students are welcome to attend GHS PTSA meetings, which take place at GHS on the second Tuesday of each month at 4:15 pm. We will have some Board openings for SY 25-26. The outgoing Board members will be available to train and support you. It is not a time-intensive role. The GHS PTSA’s main programs are recruiting for membership in the Fall, Teacher Appreciation Week, and two fun events for students. This year, we distributed popcorn during lunch in the fall, and we plan to have music, games, and Italian Ice during lunch in the spring. Senior Class of 2025
All-Night Graduation - All seniors - please fill out the form HERE!
The annual “Senior Walk” in the Goochland Day Parade will be on Saturday, May 17th. It is a nice tradition where the seniors walk in the parade for that proud moment of graduating. Please meet at the GHS parking lot at 8:00 am to be bussed to Courthouse Green. Seniors will also earn tickets to the Senior Sunset event.
The Class of ‘25 Baccalaureate will be held on Sunday, May 18th, at 3:00 pm in the GHS auditorium. Seniors are encouraged to attend an inspirational afternoon with music, speakers, and light refreshments afterward. Please wear what you will wear to graduation under the gowns, and don’t forget your caps. Seniors can earn tickets for attending, which can go towards Senior Sunset raffle prizes.
The tradition of our “Senior Walks” through our elementary schools will be on Friday, May 23rd. The school and time are as follows: RES at 9:00 am, GES at 10:00 am, and BES at 11:00 am. Those who attend will earn tickets for the Senior Sunset event.
Be sure to mark your calendars now for the “Senior Sunset” on Friday, May 30th, from 6:00 - 10:00 pm in the GHS softball field. We will do different activities, games, food, pictures, and raffle prizes! Please make plans to attend!

Financial Aid - Students and parents can schedule a meeting with our GRASP Advisor, Ms.Lindsay Bradley, to get help with the FAFSA, discuss financial aid award letters, and get additional scholarship information. ACA Graduation Regalia - ACA graduation regalia is now available for purchase through the Reynolds bookstore. Students should order the Associate Set, which will include a cap, gown, tassel, and associate stole, before the shipping deadline of Monday, May 5th. The ACA stole can also be worn for all Goochland High School graduation events with your GHS graduation regalia. Visit the Reynolds graduation site for more detailed information about Reynold's graduation celebrations and events! As ACA graduates, you are eligible to take part in all of it. The only thing that we ask you DO NOT do is pick up your "marching card." We will hand these out to all ACA students on Tuesday, May 13th, before the ceremony when we gather for our group picture. ACA students should not pick up these cards individually.
Reynold's Graduation Ceremony (including ACA students) - The ceremony will be held on Tuesday, May 13th at 2:00 pm at the Stuart C. Siegel Center (1200 W Broad St, Richmond, VA 23284). Be sure to mark your calendars now and tell all your friends and family! Seating will not be limited for this event, so there is room for them all!
Graduation - We are excited to announce that we will hold our Class of 2025 graduation services on Saturday, May 31st, at Goochland High School at 7:30 pm (rain date: Sunday, June 1st, at 7:30 pm). Additional details will be forthcoming, but rest assured, our graduation committee will work extremely hard to make this another exceptional graduation service, one deserving of an exceptional class.
