Students had a fun-filled day yesterday! 8th graders got to tour the decorated high school hallways for Homecoming and then last block we had a pep rally! Students played a variety of games, and best of all, got to pie Mr. Gordon!

🍔🌭 Before kickoff at Goochland High School’s first home football game, our GCPS family came together for an employee cookout! Superintendent Armstrong and Assistant Superintendents Waggener and Geyer fired up the grill, serving burgers, hot dogs, chips, and drinks for staff and their families. 💛🐾❤️

It was a great night of food, fun, and Bulldog spirit! 🏈

Ms. Howard's classes are practicing not just Spanish, but also Computer Science! In an integrated lesson, Ms. Howard discussed chat safety with Computer Science vocabulary before students went into Canvas discussion boards to complete their assignment in Spanish.

Mr. Tate's class built hydraulic robotic arms and had to challenge themselves with picking up the most pieces of foam from either an open or enclosed bucket. Students practiced creativity and problem solving skills as they worked out the best place to place the arm on the table and the most effective way to maneuver the syringes controlling the water in the hydraulics.

🚨🔎 History turned into a mystery in Ms. Voss’s U.S. History class! Students arrived at a staged Boston Massacre crime scene, complete with evidence to examine. After gathering clues, they dug into primary and secondary sources to investigate what really happened that night in 1770. 🇺🇸✨

#GameOn even during lunch! Mr. Gordon hosted a cheese pull contest to see who could pull the longest cheese strand on pizza cruncher day!

Mr. Rorrer's QUEST classes have been working on tri-fold projects of their choice for several weeks and are now in the process of presenting these projects to their classmates. The goal of these projects was to teach research skills while also providing students practice presenting in front of others.

🎉 September is Attendance Awareness Month and our students are showing their school spirit while focusing on the importance of being at school every day!

✅ At all three elementary schools, students are participating in Attendance Matters Spirit Week—today was “Head for Success” day, and hats of all kinds were on display. 👒🧢🎩
✅ At Goochland Middle School, grade levels are facing off in an attendance challenge. The winning grade earns a special surprise (and of course, major bragging rights!).

As part of his entry plan, Dr. Armstrong is hosting 5 listening sessions across Goochland County. These one-hour conversations are an opportunity for families and community members to share honest, constructive feedback about their experiences with GCPS.

Your input will help guide Dr. Armstrong’s work in his first year and shape the future of our division’s Strategic Plan.

💰📊 Sound financial management is a priority at GCPS!

We’re proud to share that recent audits of school activity funds at all three elementary schools showed no deficiencies. In addition, GCPS has once again earned the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association.

👏 A huge shout-out to our dedicated school bookkeepers and to the outstanding leadership of our Finance Director, Stephanie Wyche, for ensuring excellence in financial stewardship across the division.
